Engine OBD2 vs ABS/SRS scanners: choose the right coverage
Choose a scanner by the system you need to diagnose. A generic engine-OBD reader does not automatically provide ABS, SRS/airbag or manufacturer-specific transmission access. For those jobs, confirm both the tool’s documented system coverage and your exact vehicle before ordering.
What the labels mean when comparing tools
| Listing label | What to look for | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| OBD2 / EOBD reader | Documented engine/emissions code reading, live data, freeze frame and readiness functions. | Access to every control module. |
| Four-system scanner | Explicit engine, transmission, ABS and SRS support plus a model-specific vehicle check. | Every function on every vehicle from a listed brand. |
| Service reset | The exact reset function and supported vehicle revision. | That oil reset includes programming, coding or every other service procedure. |
| Large DTC library | Code definitions and lookup scope. | That the tool can communicate with the module responsible for every listed code. |
Compare examples from the SKYVNO range
- V320 and V520: screen-based options for documented engine-OBD functions. Do not buy them on an assumption of ABS or airbag coverage.
- M200: its June 2026 specification lists four-system diagnostics and a 2.8-inch screen, subject to vehicle support.
- M500: its December 2025 specification lists four-system diagnostics, a 4.3-inch screen and oil-service reset on supported vehicles.
- V800: phone-based OBD functions and supplier-described deep-scan features. Confirm the app, hardware revision and exact module coverage together.
Send these details for a compatibility check
- Make, model, model year and the market in which the vehicle was sold.
- Engine and fuel type.
- The warning or system you want to investigate: engine, ABS, airbag or transmission.
- The exact action you need: read codes, view data, clear a resolved code or perform a named service reset.
- For Bluetooth tools, your phone model, OS version and intended app.
Send a compatibility question. You do not need to publish your vehicle identification number in a review or public comment. We will ask for any additional details through support if needed.
Can a bigger screen diagnose more systems?
No. Compare the software and documented coverage separately from the display. The M200/M500 screen-size difference helps you compare how information is presented; it does not prove that the larger model supports a particular vehicle.
Is an airbag or ABS code a repair instruction?
A displayed code is a starting point for diagnosis. It does not establish which part should be replaced. Follow the vehicle service procedure and use a qualified repairer for safety-system work.

Product distinctions are based on M200 V1.1 (5 June 2026), M500 V2.1 (18 December 2025), V320 V1.0 (7 April 2024), V800 V1.1 (4 January 2026) and the V520 supplied materials. Each linked listing records its source and limitations. General background: the US EPA OBD FAQ describes OBD’s role in monitoring engine and emissions components; it is not a compatibility certificate for these tools.
